And you might have thought that this only happened in third world countries!
Unfortunately, all too true. After a series of rolling strikes, and breakdowns at Patrick Terminals in Sydney, there are rather serious delays in the movement of ships in and out of Sydney.
So much so, that every shipping line (that I know of) has imposed a congestion surcharge of $A 100.00 per teu. This has flowed through to freight consolidators who are imposing a surcharge of $A 5.00 per RT.
This has also led to many of the shipping lines and the consortiums to reschedule their services.
You should check with your shipping lines/forwarders for updates and to reschedule your freight to take this into account.
